Our Story
The Project began in 1972 when Gabriele or locally known as “Gaby” or “Abu Nayef” has purchased a plot of land in the outskirts of the town, Locals mocked the idea and said: he has purchased a house in the wolf’s den, Signifying the size of the city at that time.
30 years later the development of the city has progressed and the location become very important. The building lies parallel to the Manager Street in which the Holy Family used to reach the Church of Nativity.
After Construction was completed, the structure of the place was split into two parts, one part being the House of Gaby and the other, that was used as apartments for his children and the rest for rent and that served Gaby’s retirement plan! Gaby was a humble Electrician with no formal educational background we were self-taught and Engineers major projects in Bethlehem such as Saint Catharine Church (Church of Nativity), French Hospital, EFTAH school of the Deaf, Caritas Baby Hospital and many others. Later on, many of these projects were carried on by his sons. Therefore, a seed was planted.
The two Sons of Gaby, Nader and Nayef, have felt the pressure of continuing his legacy, they realized the importance of the building/ location but more over the need to create something for their city Bethlehem, the city where Jesus was born with their background in Electrical / Civil Engineering combined they have decided that the best step for the city and
it’s interest after their extended study of the city and their building to create Dar AlMauge Project it’s a multiuse building that includes a Boutique Hotel that consists of 12 rooms, Fine Dining restaurant, Meeting room & Spa. The project kicked of with the Restaurant in December of 2022 followed by the Boutique hotel.
The Etymology derives from the Arabic word “Dar” which translates into a House and “AlMauge” Waves hence the name Dar AlMauge “The House of Waves”. Connecting the history of building with the story of the family was not easy due to the rich history of the family elements incorporated had to go through meticulous process of thinking and researching to help elaborating the story, Like the naming of food dishes all the way to customizing the furniture
